The Lifesaving Society is committed to maintaining high quality workplace first aid programs to meet the needs of communities across Alberta and Northwest Territories. Lifesaving Society programs with first aid and resuscitation content undergo regular review and update process to reflect changes identified through reviewing scientific evidence and clinical research.

CPR/AED

Lifesaving CPR-C and AED teaches candidates all aspects of CPR skills and theory for adult, child, and infant victims, including two-rescuer CPR skills. Lifesaving CPR-C and AED also includes an introduction to the purpose and use of AEDs.

DURATION:

  • Full Course: Level-A: 4 – 5 hours; Level-C: 5 – 6 hours; Level-HCP: 6 – 7 hours.
  • Recertification Course: Level-A: N/A; Level-C: 3 hours; Level-HCP: 3.5 hours.

DESCRIPTION:

Level-A:

Lifesaving CPR-A and AED teaches candidates how to perform CPR, the purpose of an AED, how to use an AED, and choking procedures for adults. Lifesaving CPR-A and AED is included in Emergency First Aid.

Lifesaving CPR-A and AED is recommended for candidates who are likely to only encounter adult victims.

The Lifesaving Emergency First Aid course is for people who want a general knowledge of first aid principles and the emergency treatment of injuries. Skills include: casualty assessment, CPR, AED, choking, respiratory and circulatory emergencies such as heart attack and stroke, and how to deal with external bleeding.

The Lifesaving Standard First Aid course provides comprehensive training covering all aspects of first aid, CPR, and AED. This course is for those who want an in-depth understanding of first aid such as: medical/legal aspects, spinal injuries, heat or cold injuries, bone and joint injuries, abdominal and chest injuries, burns, and medical emergencies such as diabetes and seizures.
