Basic Life Support (BLS) course through Heart and Stroke is the foundation for saving lives after cardiac arrest. It is designed for healthcare professionals, trained first responders who provide care to patients in a wide variety of settings, or by those that require BLS certification and CPR training to enter into a healthcare-related training program, and teaches both single-rescuer and team basic life support skills for application in pre-hospital and in-facility settings.

310 – 3016 5th Ave NE (Third Floor)
Parking is available on the west and east side of the building. You may park in any designated stalls for any other companies, except those reserved for Alison College.

In-Classroom Training Time: 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM

Pre-Requisite: Current certificate that has not expired

Audience: In-facility care providers, including nursing staff, health care aides, medical and dental professionals. Pre-hospital care providers, which may include professionals in a fire service, rescue team, sports-medicine, lifeguards and ski patrol.

Content:

The BLS course focuses on building knowledge so you are confident and ready to perform high-quality CPR in a wide variety of settings. The course covers:

  • Chain of Survival
  • 1-rescuer / 2-rescuer CPR
  • High-quality chest compressions with a feedback device
  • Multi-rescuer team CPR
  • Adult, Child and Infant CPR and relief of choking
  • Use of an AED
  • Effective ventilations using a barrier device and bag-mask device
  • Opioid-associated life-threatening emergencies
